Rachael & Paul flew up from Melbourne to get married in beautiful Byron Bay. They had both the ceremony and the reception at the Byron Bay Surf Life Saving Club right on the main beach of Byron Bay. Rachael arrived with her sister, father and flower girl in grand style in a 1930′s vintage Reo Flying Cloud chauffered by the very gracious and kind Joe O’Regan. Marion Brownlie conducted the ceremony which included a special tulip exchanging ceremony, something very personal and special to Rachael and Paul. The reception had a wonderful down-to-earth country town feel about it – overflowing with warmth, love and lots good humour. Here are some of the photos…

Somebody asked me the other day if anyone ever gets married in a church anymore… Well the answer is most definitely, yes. Couples have church weddings all the time and over the years I have shot in many churches and cathedrals around the Northern Rivers region. Reverend Jazz Dron officiated the ceremony for Ash & Sam at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Byron Bay…Ash looked stunning as she came down the aisle with makeup by Billie Jo Buckley. The Luvdub took the bridal party on our beach location shoot where there was lots of laughter and champagne. The reception was at the Byron Bay Surf Club, organised, decorated and catered for by the wonderful Byron Bay Weddings. I can’t speak more highly of these guys. Everything at the reception looked absolutely stunning and they are completely professional down to the smallest detail. DJ, Pip created the lighting decoration and set the mood with his fantastic mix of music. Here are some of my favourite photos of the day…

The weather was forecast for thunderstorms which fortunately never came. It turned out to be a lovely day and I think everyone had a fun time having their photo taken. I certainly enjoyed taking them! Here are some highlights…

Andie & Paul

Cultures united with the wedding of Andie & Paul. It was an intmate ceremony at Byron Bay Manor led by celebrant, Andrew Sinclair which brought together Andie’s Sri Lankan family & Paul’s Irish family…(I apologise again, Paul for my dodgy Irish accent – but who can resist?!). Byron Bay delivered “Melbourne” style weather for the day – delivering pouring rain and glorious sunshine and a few stages in between. Best man, Graham and Andie’s sister, Naomi made up a wonderful, fun bridal party. Here are some highlights…

Elizabeth & Leigh Portrait Shoot

I just recently finished a portrait shoot of Elizabeth & Leigh at Byron Bay. This session was given to them via a gift voucher from their friends, Jane & Tony…Elizabeth & Leigh are not just a wonderful, devoted couple in their personal lives, but are also a together as a professional musical duo. They both have sensationally beautiful voices and Leigh is a master on guitar. Both Elizabeth & Leigh have had long and successful careers as musicians/performers. Double family portrait shoot

I recently did a portrait shoot for two families (2 adults & two boys each) side by side. These families are close friends but live quite a long way from each other…One family lives in QLD and the other in Victoria and they came together for a joint holiday in Byron Bay and decided to get some photos taken of both families at the same time. Megan & Scott

The weather was very kind for Megan & Scott who got married on a beautiful balmy sub tropical day on a beach in Kingscliff. The beachside town of Kingscliff has meant a lot to both of them over the years as a location for many family holidays which hold a lot of happy memories, so it was a natural choice for a place to hold their outdoor Summer wedding.

A surprise was planned by the guys for Scott and his groomsmen to go to the wedding from the resort where they stayed on the back of Harley Davidson motorcycles! Megan & her bridesmaids & close family arrived soon after in a pair of traditional limousines. Helen Hudson conducted the ceremony with warm professional ease. While the bridal party went off for photos after the ceremony, all the rest of the guests went into nearby Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club for drinks and a friendly game of bare foot bowls, before heading up to their beautfully decorated air conditioned function room for the reception.

Sophistication

I recently did a photoshoot for a local three piece band called Sophistication. Dean Doyle, the lead singer and also trumpet/trombone player and Narelle & Paul are a group of professional musicians with a wide range of Australian and International experience, providing music that creates an intimate atmosphere for all kinds of occasions…Narelle plays piano/keyboard and Paul plays drums/percussion and together they present an exciting repertoire that contains a wide range of music including music gathered from the era of swing, encompassing the songs of great singers such as Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darrin and Dean Martin through to the singers of today’s swing such as Michael Buble and Harry Connick Jnr. Other music styles include, Fleetwood Mac, Carole King and Burt Bacharach. For bookings you can call Paul on 0422 059 226. Dean is also starring (with yours truly!) in a production of Guys & Dolls, which is also musically directed by Paul. As you see, these photos were shot on a white background, so the subjects can be etched and placed into any scene of which I’ve provided some samples.

Louise & Nicholas

Here’s a couple that booked their wedding photography two years in advance – that’s planning ahead! During that time, Lou & Nick had a baby boy and little Billy was there to take it all in. To make things a little more complicated, everyone who was at the wedding were from England…Sadly, Nick’s father couldn’t join them as a result of bad health. On the bright side, that means that Lou gets to put the wedding dress on again back in England for another ceremony! Jane Smith did an amazing job of Lou’s hair and makeup and Irena Kirpichnikova conducted the ceremony on Tallow Beach, Byron Bay. When you plan a beach wedding two years in advance, it’s not easy to predict the weather, but Byron Bay came through with a beautiful day and a light breeze to cool down the guests. Transport was in the groovy Luvdub combi van and the Valentine Day Reception dinner was in the restaurant of the wonderful Byron at Byron Resort & Spa who looked after them so well, included providing their beautiful wedding cake. Samantha & Greg

After a few touch and go days in Byron Bay, the weather turned out well for Sam and Greg’s big day…

They were married by Chiquita Mitchell at the wonderful Figtree restaurant in Ewingsdale, Byron Bay. The guys at Figtree work so hard to make sure everyone has a perfect wedding day at their venue. Sam & Greg had a very fun theme going with their wedding, with guests encouraged to wear outrageous glasses and even wigs and props during the reception! As he always does a great job, I thought I’d also mention Pip, the DJ for the night from Byron Audio. Here is a look at just a few of the photos…
